This year sees Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita (16-20 June), Mozart's Don Giovanni (22/29 July), Carl Orf's Carmina Burana (8/13 July) and Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (15 July). At Pitti Uomo (15-18 June) over 900 exhibitors fill the Fortezza da Basso. If you're not of that persuasion, Pitti Woman Pre-Collection (15-18 June) flaunts next year's wares. Combine the two and you have Pitti Bimbo (24-26 June) for kids. Then Pitti Filati (6-8 July) reels out the growing fad in knitting yarns.
http://www.pittimmagine.com/en/homef.php

Caravaggio e Caravaggeschi
You'll need a comfortable pair of shoes to visit the show's three venues: Galleria Palatina di Palazzo Pitti, Galleria degli Uffizi and Villa Bardini. But the upshot is a worthwhile day out lapping up the master's works and three of Florence's important cultural pitstops. Buy the Caravaggio Card €25 to cut queues and costs. Ten contemporary artists explore the consequences of our increasingly accelerating lives. Speed dating, power napping and fast food come into question as pervasive aspects of our over-industrialised society. A day lounging by the sea may be a good follow-up remedy. Runs till 18 July, downstairs in Palazzo Strozzi.
http://www.strozzina.org/asap/index.php

Bronzino
Bronzino's works from the Uffizi are on show at Palazzo Strozzi alongside the loaned works of Venus, Cupid and Jealousy from Budapest's Szépmuvészeti Múzeum, the Portrait of Young Man with a Book from New York's Met and two versions of Holy Family and Saint John from the Louvre and Vienna's Kunsthistorisches Museum.
